Pyometra Surgery & Treatment

paw-print-7

Pyometra is an infection of the uterus. It is a serious life threatening illness in dogs. The uterus is inflamed and pus filled. An intact female who is very ill and that presents increased drinking and excessive urination is suspected of having pyometra. The preferred treatment for pyometra is surgical removal. An ovariohysterectomy is performed and the dog is treated for infection. We also offer treatment for pyometra, but recurrence will likely happen if the ovaries and uterus are not removed.
